6 Professors from NCU Selected as “Highly Cited Scientists”

The Network News (Department of Development Planning and Discipline Construction) Recently, Clarivate released the list of “Highly Cited Scientists” in the world in 2020, and 6 professors from NCU, Nie Shaoping, Xie Jianhua, Xie Mingyong, Zhang Guowen, Liao Weiqiang and Zhang Xiaoyong were on the list.

In the past ten years, the scholars selected in the Clarivate list of “highly cited scientists” have published a number of highly cited papers, with the citation frequency ranking top 1% of the same discipline in Web of Science. Highly cited data show that the scientific research achievements of researchers in a certain discipline field are recognized collectively by the global peers. It is reported that two professors, Nie Shaoping and Xie Mingyong from our university, have been selected as highly cited scientists in the field of agricultural science for three consecutive years. It is worth mentioning that a total of 770 people from mainland China were selected in the list this year, and the total number of people selectedfrom our university ranked 29^thin China. In the field of agricultural science, four of the 11 mainland candidates came from Nanchang University, accounting for 36.4%.

In recent years, our university has deepened the strategy of strengthening the school with talents and accelerated the construction of high-level talent team, which has achieved remarkable results. During the “13^thFive-Year Plan” period, we vigorously implemented the talent introduction and talent gathering project, aiming at the construction of high-end talent team, striving to create a career platform, working environment and living conditions suitable for the growth of talents, creating a good environment for talent gathering, talent utilization and talent growth, fully introducing 10 national talents and 91 discipline leaders, and cultivating 13 national level talents such as “academician”, “Yangtze River”, “Outstanding Youth” and “ Excellent Youth”, which provides strong talent support for the construction of “double first-rate” of our university.
