Bring Sight and Love to Chad in Africa

The medical team consisting of 9 people dispatched by Health and Family Planning Committee of Jiangxi Province and Affiliated Eye Hospital of Nanchang University went to Chad for “Sight Travel” activity on September 25, . Director of Anti-blindness Office of Affiliated Eye Hospital of Nanchang University Gu Xuejun acted as team leader and doctor Lu Yurong acted as member of advance team already arrived Chad on August 26.

This is the first “sight travel” medical team assisting Africa from China after Beijing Summit of 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. During the 6-day working from September 27 to October 2, members of the medical team overcome the difficulties in poor medical conditions, language barrier, own fatigue, no water and electricity, and etc., and completed 233 cases of cataract surgery, the oldest patient is 112 years old, and the youngest one is only 2 years old. During the period, they also held the ceremony for the launching of construction of China (Jiangxi) Assisted Chad Eye Center and 2018 “Sight Travel” Drugs and Devices Donation.

This “Sight Travel” activity obtained the high praise from Minister of Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Chad Aziz Mohammed Salih, Chinese ambassador to Chad Li Jinjin, President of China-Chad Friendship Hospital Umar Hamdan, et al. The medical cooperation between China and Chad will keep a sustainable development and bring sight to more people.
