The National College Students Chemical Experiment Innovation and Design Competition is a discipline-specific competition sponsored by the Chinese Chemical Society and National Association for Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Educational Institutions of Ministry of Education and open to colleges students. Set up in 2019, the Competition is currently the most influential chemistry competition for college students in China and has the largest scale and number of participating colleges/universities. A total of 737 teams from 352 colleges/universities participated in this year’s competition. The selection process began in July this year in seven divisions across China, and 90 teams from colleges/universities were finally selected to participate in the national finals.

The College of Chemistry of NCU organized teams to participate in the Competition. After a university-level competition, 3 teams are selected to participate in different tracks in the Central China Division. After an online evaluation, these 3 teams succeeded in entering the division-level finals held by Wuhan University at the end of July and won the first prize of the Central China Division.

After being qualified for the national finals, NCU teams competed hard in the national finals. After two rounds of fierce competition, the Lantuzi (Blue Bunny) team composed of three undergraduates enrolled in the College of Chemistry in 2018, namely Wu Sihao, Qu Yinhe and Wang Mingming, won the first prize in the national finals with 15th place in China (the 3rd place in the category of popular science in China), which is the best result NCU students ever achieved in the Competition.
