The Team of Cai Hu from School of Chemistry Publishing a Paper on Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.

Recently, the research team of Professor Cai Hu from School of Chemistry of our University cooperated with the research team of Professor Xiong Rengen from Southeast University, having successfully prepared molecular ferroelectric compound with the narrowest band gap, 1,6- HDA-BiI5. The research achievement was published on Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., a famous journal in the field of Chemistry, (DOI:10.1002/ange.201709588, impact factor: 11.994). It is said that this is the first time that our University takes Nanchang University as the first unit to publish a paper on Angew, a top-grade journal in the field of Chemistry. The young teacher of our University, Doctor Wei Zhenhong is the joint first author of the paper, and Professor Cai Hu and Professor Xiong Rengen are the joint corresponding authors.
Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite is a kind of new composite materials, having caused extensive attention in the field of solar cell. The internal band gap of the newly-synthesized molecular ferroelectric compound HDA-BiI5 is only 1.89eV, and high-quality ferroelectric film has been successfully produced by virtue of low-temperature solution processing technology, having realized the controllable flip of high-precision ferroelectric domain; therefore, the HDA-BiI5 combining the narrow band gap and favorable ferroelectricity plays a milestone role in the application in the field of high-density storage and photoelectric conversion.
