Nov 17, 2025

(School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering News) Recently, the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicators) statistical data revealed that Nanchang University(NCU)’s chemistry discipline has achieved a global ranking of 0.987‰, placing it in the top 0.1% worldwide—a remarkable new milestone for the university.

In recent years, NCU has focused on the development of first-class disciplines, with the overall strength of its academic programs continuously improving. The global ESI ranking of the chemistry discipline has risen from the top 5.2‰ at the end of 2017 to the top 1‰ in November 2025, marking its entry into the ranks of internationally high-level disciplines. This achievement also represents a major step forward in the university's efforts to build “Double First-Class” disciplines.

ESI, provided by Clarivate Analytics, is a widely recognized tool for analyzing and evaluating global scientific research performance and tracking trends in scientific development. It also serves as an important international benchmark for assessing the academic level and influence of universities and research institutions worldwide.
