The investigation on ligand recognition and activation of human bitter taste receptors

LIU Zhijie, academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, is currently serving as the Dean of DaDao College and Executive Director of iHuman Institute of Shanghai Tech University. He is also a professor of the School of Life Science and Technology. In 2012, he was granted the special allowance for experts from the State Council, and was awarded the Life Chemical Research Prize by WuXi Pharma Tech in the same year. In 2020, he won the first prize in Natural Science from Shanghai Municipality as the principal investigator. He was honored with the "Science and Technology Progress Award" by The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation in 2022. Additionally, he has been recognized three times as an outstanding mentor by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is currently serving as the Vice President of the Biophysical Society of China, Executive Director of the Chinese Crystallographic Society, Vice President of the Shanghai Biophysical Society, Board Member of the International Union of Crystallography (I○BCr), Council Member of the Asian Crystallographic Association, Editorial Board Member of IUCrJ - an international journal specializing in crystallography, and of JMB.
Professor LIU Zhijie's research mainly focuses on the structure and function of important proteins related to human diseases, as well as structure-based drug design. As a corresponding author, he has published over 100 research papers in renowned SCI journals such as Cell (4 papers), Nature (3 papers), Science (1 paper), Immunity, and Nat Stru Mole Biol. He has also obtained five patents related to cancer chemotherapy and schizophrenia targets.
