Evolutionary genomics of key-innovations, adaptations, convergence, and speciation

Lecturer: Axel Meyer

Axel Meyer, received his PhD in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988, and later became a Professor of Zoology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Konstanz, Germany. His main research areas include evolutionary characterization of African cichlid fishes (Cichlidfis), specific genome replication in scleractinian fishes, and molecular phylogeny of vertebrates. He has conducted innovative research on speciation, convergent evolution, and adaptive radiations and made significant contributions to the understanding of the role of genes and genome replication in evolution, deepening the understanding of the link between genotypes and phenotypes. Moreover, he has made significant contributions to understanding the role of genes and genome duplication in evolution, thus deepening the understanding of relations between genotypes and phenotypes.

Professor Axel Meyer has published more than 400 papers in the fields of zoology, phylogeny, evolutionary biology and comparative genomics, with over 66,000 citations ( H-index> 130). And as the corresponding author, he has published 24, 10 and 12 papers in  Nature, Science and PNAS  respectively .
