Technological Innovation Boosts the Development of Modern Medicine
Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
Zhan Qimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, now serves as the Dean of the Peking University (PKU) International Cancer Institute, Director of the National Institute of Health Data Science at PKU, Head of the Molecular Oncology Laboratory at Peking University Cancer Hospital, Director of the Frontiers Science Center for Cancer Integrative Omics of Peking University, and Dean of the Suzhou Medical College of Soochow University.
Zhan has long been engaged in molecular oncology and translational medicine research, achieving groundbreaking and systematic results in the fields of cell cycle regulation, genome stability, and mechanisms of carcinogenesis. He is the first to discover and systematically elucidate the mechanisms of key proteins involved in cell cycle checkpoints. From the perspective of genome level and microenvironment, he has comprehensively revealed the genetic variation characteristics of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Additionally, he has systematically clarified the key tumor-derived molecules responsible for cachexia-induced tissue damage and their mechanisms of action. He has published over 300 SCI-indexed papers, which have been cited more than 21,800 times. He has edited 16 academic books, been invited to deliver more than 170 presentations at domestic and international conferences, and chaired 17 international academic meetings.
