Paper of Wang Li’s Team Publicized in One of Nature Journals

The recent issue of Nature Nanotechnology dated Sept. 18, 2017 publicized the paper titled Conformation-based Signal Transfer and Processing at the Single-molecule Level, which elaborated on the latest research advancement of Professor Wang Li of Physics Department of School of Sciences of Nanchang University (DOI: 10.1038/NNANO.2017.179, impact factor: 38.986).

Nanchang University is the sole contributing organization of this paper, with its postgraduate Li Chao and young lecturer Wang Zhongping who is also a doctor being equally first authors, involving major participation of Doctor Lyu Yan and Associate Professor Liu Xiaoqing as well, Professor Wang Li serving as corresponding author. The project team took the adsorption orientation of molecule on the solid surface at room temperature as signal carrier, using the coupling action between substrate and molecule and that between molecules, realized signal transfer between molecules while successfully constructing the prototype for molecular logic-based computation and molecular motor, which contributed significantly for building of a molecular computer.

Following on the heels of this paper, the flagship journal IEEE Spectrum of world renowned professional body the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers specially covered this in the report titled For the First Time, Signal Transfer Between Molecules Has Been Achieved, which hailed this achievement as new milestone of molecular-based computation in the semiconductor field.
