About the Speaker: Wu Qingping, expert in microbiological safety and health, from Meizhou, Guangdong Province, received a doctorate from South China University of Technology in 1999, and is currently a doctoral supervisor of South China University of Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is now the Honorary Director of Guangdong Institute of Microbiology, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Vice President of China Institute of Food Science and Technology, Vice Chairman of China Edible Fungi Association, and Deputy of the 13th National People’s Congress. In view of the serious microbial safety risks in China’s food industry, Academician Wu Qingping started from basic research, invented advanced common monitoring technology and established relevant theoretical system, developed food safety control technology for key industries and advanced standards in line with international standards, solved important scientific problems and key technical difficult problems in food safety, and significantly promoted the scientific theory of food safety in China and the healthy development of the industry. He has presided over 52 national, provincial and ministerial-level major scientific research projects, obtained 39 international leading or international advanced level achievements appraised by provincial-level authority, and 85 authorized invention patents, made 10 national and local standards, in which, there are 8 national standards; published more than 500 papers, of which more than 180 papers have been included in SCI; 2 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 5 provincial and ministerial-level first prizes, 4 provincial and ministerial-level second prizes, 3 Chinese patent excellent awards, 1 Guangdong Patent Gold Award, 2 patent excellent awards of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City; he was awarded the national excellent scientific and technological worker in 2010, obtained the He Liang He Li Innovation Award in 2012, and the first Guangdong Inventor Award in 2014, won the first Guangdong Outstanding Contribution Award and the second “Ye Jianying Award” in 2017, and won the outstanding contribution award of China Food Science and Technology Association in 2019. He was elected as Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2015.
