NCU Held a Symposium on Magnetic Confinement Fusion Energy

On July 21, the NCU Symposium on Magnetic Confinement Fusion Energy jointly organized by the Science and Technology Department of Jiangxi Province and NCU was held at Qianhu Campus of NCU. Chen Weirong, Deputy Director-General of the Science and Technology Department of Jiangxi Province, and Liu Yaobin, Vice President of NCU, attended the symposium and made speeches. Vice President, Liu Chengmei, presided over the symposium.

At the Symposium, Luo Delong, Director-General of China International Nuclear Fusion Energy Program Execution Center of Ministry of Science and Technology, Duan Xuru, Head of the Southwestern Institute of Physics (SWIP) under the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), Song Yuntao, Director of the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP), Xu Min, Director of the Institute of Fusion Science of SWIP under the CNNC, Gao Xiang, Director of General Research Office of Fusion Reactor of ASIPP, and Prof. Chen Xiaochang from Jiangxi Province Key Laboratory of Fusion and Information Control made their keynote speech focusing on the strategic deployment, development trend, important achievements and other aspects of the fusion energy.

Before the Symposium, the participants visited the Jiangxi Province Key Laboratory of Fusion and Information Control, which has completed the construction of China’s first independently designed spherical tokamak to explore the startup by compression fusionNCST of NCU. This is China’s first spherical tokamak to explore the startup of plasma current by compression fusion, which has made positive contributions to the development of the course of Jiangxi fusion energy and has strongly promoted the academic development and research progress of NCU.

More than 40 experts and students attended the meeting, including experts from the China International Nuclear Fusion Energy Program Execution Center of Ministry of Science and Technology, scientific researchers from Jiangxi Province Key Laboratory of Fusion and Information Control, and representatives of graduate students from the School of Sciences, Information Engineering School, and School of Materials Science and Engineering.
