Magnesium Alloy Processing Technology and Development Tendency

Abstract of Report: Magnesium alloy has low density (1.8g/cm3), it is the structural metallic material most favored by structural lightweight application, and is of wide application value in the fields of automobile, aerospace and high-speed rail. It is a dream yearned by materials scientists and engineers for a long time how to increase the comprehensive performance of magnesium alloy while obtaining high strength and high ductility. This report will introduce light-weight high-strength magnesium alloy processing technology, combine lecturer’s experiences in long-term research on magnesium alloy, and discuss the future development tendency of magnesium alloy. Besides, the lecturer will also discuss and exchange the talent cultivation of postgraduates.

Profile of Lecturer: Liu Yong, distinguished professor/doctoral supervisor of NCU, deputy dean of School of Mechatronics Engineering, director of Jiangxi Key Laboratory for Light-weight and High-strength Structure. He has been engaging in the teaching and scientific research of non-ferrous metal materials processing, successively presided over 4 natural sciences foundations of China and 3 national key research and development plan and national sci-tech support plan sub-topics; picked for major academic leader in Jiangxi Province in 2017, Jiangxi provincial talents project and outstanding young talents plan in 2016, national Xiangjiang scholar in 2012, acting as Executive Chairman of Young Scientist Forum of China Association for Science and Technology, Chairman of the 3rd National Magnesium Alloy Youth Academic Conference, Member of Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Application and Secretary-general of Youth Committee. He has published 50 SCI papers in international journals like Carbon, and etc., his research achievements have been cited by SCI for 546 times, he has applied for 12 national invention patents and guided postgraduates to obtain National Baosteel Excellent Scholarship and excellent master dissertation in Jiangxi.
