Our Alumnus Professor Chen Yeguang’s Election to Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences

It is reported that (by Journalist Nanxuan) in the morning of November 28, Chinese Academy of Sciences issued 2017 academician cooptation results. Our alumnus Professor Chen Yeguang was elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
   Chen Yeguang, born in August 1964, professor of School of Life Sciences, Tsinghua University, graduated from Department of Biology of Nanchang University (formally Jiangxi University) in 1983, was awarded Master’s degree in 1986, Master’s degree of American Fordham University in 1990, and undertook post-doctoral research in MemorialSloan-Kettering Cancer Center after obtaining Doctor’s degree of American Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996, was assistant professor of Riverside Campus of American University of California from 2000 to 2002, professor of Tsinghua University since 2002. Now he is president of Chinese Society for Cell Biology, mainly undertaking research on cell signaling transduction mechanism and its physiology and pathology function.
   Professor Chen Yeguang obtained a series of original-creation achievements in TCG-β signal regulating, put forward that TCG-β signal transduction is related to the acceptor’s spatial distribution in cell different membrane region, and regulated by endocytosis; found the specific structural basis of TCG-β signal transduction; and autophagy restraining Wnt signal phenomenon and its mechanism.

   Series of achievements of Professor Chen Yeguang provides a significant reference for deep understanding on processes as embryonic development, organization steady state, tumorigenesis development. He was successively awarded the Heliang Heli Scientific and Technological Advancement Prize, China Youth Scientific and Technological Prize, Outstanding Youth Fund of National Fund Commission, the Yangtze River Scholar of Ministry of Education.
