Research on Innovative Development and Application of Novel Catalytic Materials Based on Materials Genome Engineering

Yang Weimin is an expert in organic chemical engineering and a Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Nanjing University in 1994. He serves as President of Sinopec Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Green Chemical Engineering and Industrial Catalysis. With decades of dedication to applied basic research and engineering technology development in organic chemical engineering, he has led projects including the National Key R&D Program of China, the Integrated Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Major Projects of Sinopec. His pioneering breakthroughs in green production of ethylbenzene from diversified feedstocks, value-added conversion and utilization of dilute ethylene, and creation of novel-structured zeolites have been successfully implemented in over 60 enterprises worldwide, generating remarkable socioeconomic benefits. His outstanding awards include: 2 Second Prizes of the State Technological Invention Award, 1 Second Prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, 1 China Patent Gold Award, and 6 First Prizes of Provincial or Ministerial Science and Technology Awards. He has won honors such as the Second National Award for Excellence in Innovation, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Innovation Award, the Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Achievement Award, and the Zhao Yonggao Science and Technology Innovation Award.
