Perovskite material is one of major cutting-edge fields in the study of current energy materials, and it is the key material in the new generation photovoltaic solar cells; the recent years have witnessed a rocketing development in the solar battery based on the organic - inorganic halogen hybrid perovskite active layers, and the energy conversion efficiency of devices have reached 20%. However, due to the structural characteristics, the perovskite materials are very instable, which limits the application. In order to solve the above problems, Professor Cheng Baochang’s team of Material Science School of our university cooperated with the Professor Thomas Riedl’s team of Institute of Electronic Devices, University of Wuppertal, during which the aluminium-mixed zinc oxide and stannic oxide materials were used as the double-layer electronic extraction layers, providing resilient protection layers with excellent performance to the perovskite solar battery in the damp and high temperature environments, to lower the degradation of professor materials in atmospheric environment, the reaction between the separating perovskite materials and metal electrodes and block the volatilization of perovskite material degradation products, and to result in a reverse development of decomposition reaction.
On Jan. 9, Professor Cheng Baochang’s team and Institute of Electronic Devices of University of Wuppertal cooperated and published a research paper on Nature Communications, titled as “Suppressed decomposition of organometal halide perovskites by impermeable electron-extraction layers in inverted solar cells”. The main content is the introduction of aluminium-mixed zinc oxide and stannic oxide materials as the double-layer electronic extraction layers to the inverse devices structures of perovskite solar battery to inhibit the degradation of perovskite and guarantee the device stability. The result is, the inhibition of photoactive materials and the stability of optimized photoelectric devices are of vital guiding significance to the improvement of device shelf life, the adopted preparation method is also universal, and provides very important reference values to the commercialized production of organic - inorganic hybrid perovskite solar battery.
The second author of this paper is Zhao Jie, a doctoral degree candidate under Professor Cheng Baochang, and she is one of the main completers of this paper. Due to the excellent school performance, Zhao Jie was selected by her mentor and school in 2016 to visit German, where she jointed in Thomas Riedl’s scientific research team for one-year joint culture. During this period, Zhao Jie achieved massive research results; in addition to the above paper, as the first author, she published a paper on the top journal in materials, Advanced Energy Materials, and this paper is issued on line.
