Spatiotemporal Variations of the Earth’s Gravity Field and Their Applications in Geoscience Research
Lecturer: Sun Heping
Professor Sun Heping is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a Research Professor at the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology, CAS and a Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). He also holds prominent roles in academic organizations worldwide: he is a Fellow of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Geodesy and Geodynamics, Vice President of both the Chinese Society of Geodesy Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC) and the Chinese Society for Measurement (CSM), and President of the Geophysical Society of Hubei Province (GSHP).
Professor Sun received his B.S. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1980 and his Ph.D. degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, in 1995. He has been appointed as the Chief Scientist of the Innovative Research Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), honored as a recipient of the NSFC Distinguished Young Scholars Award, and selected as a member of the CAS Hundred Talents Program. Additionally, he previously served as Director of the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics, CAS.
Professor Sun primarily engages in high-precision gravity signal detection, theoretical simulation, and exploration of the mechanical mechanisms related to Earth’s micro-deformation and geodynamics.
