From Reverent Learning to Legacy Passing
Lecturer: Mo Lifeng
Mo Lifeng is a Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nanjing University, the Director of the Chinese Poetics Research Center of Nanjing University, and the Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Institute of Culture and History. He is also a member of the National Leading Group for the Planning and Publishing of Ancient Books, a member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, an advisor to the Chinese Tang Dynasty Literature Society, the honorary president of the Chinese Song Dynasty Literature Society, and a member of the academic committee at the Center for the Study of Ancient Chinese Literature at Fudan University. Recognized as a Distinguished Social Sciences Scholar of Jiangsu Province, he serves as an Ambassador for the "Read for All" initiative. In 1978, he was admitted to the English major in the Department of Foreign Studies at Anhui University. The following year, he began graduate studies in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Nanjing University under the mentorship of Professor Cheng Qianfan, specializing in Ancient Chinese Literature. He obtained his Doctor of Literature degree in 1984. His research focuses on Tang and Song dynasty poetry and the history of Chinese literature. He is the author of numerous works, including Studies on the Jiangxi Poetry School, Research on Zhu Xi’s Literature, Collected Essays on Tang and Song Poetry, A Critical Biography of Du Fu, Further Studies on Tang and Song Poetry, Informal Talks About Su Dongpo, and Lectures by Mo Lifeng.
