The ceremony for Academician Yao Xi being appointed as honorary professor of NCU was held in the academic exchange center of NCU on December 26. Vice President Zhu Xiaoli awarded the certificate of honorary professor to Academician Yao Xi and presented the badge of NCU.
Academician Yao Xi is an internationally renowned materials scientist, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and World Academy of Ceramics, as well as a foreign academician of National Academy of Engineering, obtained doctor’s degree of Pennsylvania State University, the USA in 1982 (the first person obtaining doctor’s degree in the USA of our country after reform and opening-up) and obtained Xerox Award, obtained Ross-Coffin-Purdy Award of American Ceramic Society in 1985, obtained the Science and Technology Award of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation in 1997, and obtained IEEE Iron Electrical Achievement Award and selected as a member of American Ceramic Society in 2002. Mr. Yao Xi mainly engages in the study of function materials, with remarkable achievements in many scientific research orientations, especially in the aspect of Ferro-voltage electric material and element, and he is one of the important founders in the aspect of study on ferroelectric ceramics, and his scientific research achievements play a significant role at home and abroad.
