Nanchang University (NCU) Hosts the “Ehu Forum (2025)” and International Academic Symposium on “Lu Jiuyuan’s School of Mind and Its Contemporary Value”

It was reported that (by the School of Humanities, NCU) on October 25, the “Ehu Forum (2025)” and International Academic Symposium on “Lu Jiuyuan’s School of Mind and Its Contemporary Value”, hosted by NCU and co-organized by the Publicity Department of the Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Government of Jinxi County, and the Department of Philosophy, School of Humanities, NCU, was held in Jinxi County. The opening ceremony was attended and addressed by Fan Xiaolin, Party Secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC; Zheng Lei, Director of the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education; Luo Sihai, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Nanchang University; Yang Guorong, President of the Chinese Society for the History of Philosophy; and Xiong Lu, Secretary of the Jinxi County Committee of the CPC. Liao Xiaoyong, Member of CPC Fuzhou Standing Committee and Head of the Publicity Department, presided over the opening ceremony.

Luo Sihai extended a warm welcome to the experts, scholars, and colleagues who had traveled from afar and provided a brief overview of NCU’s history. He emphasized that in this new era of rapid technological advancement, the speculative spirit and humanistic concern inherent in philosophy are more valuable than ever. The Department of Philosophy, he stated, should position itself at the forefront of the times, address new issues arising from technological transformation, enrich the discipline’s essence by upholding tradition while fostering innovation, and contribute wisdom and strength to the deep integration of technology and the humanities.

The symposium focused on the contemporary practical value of Lu Jiuyuan’s School of Mind, delving into topics like the integration and transcendence of the School of Mind by CPC, in-depth interpretation of Lu Jiuyuan’s philosophical thought, comparative analysis between Lu Jiuyuan’s School of Mind and other traditional Chinese schools of thought, new theoretical developments in the contemporary School of Mind, and reflective analysis of its content using new methodologies. Experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, East China Normal University, Renmin University of China, Seoul National University (South Korea), Kitakyushu University (Japan), and other institutions participated in the exchanges.
