Held from October 23 to 26, 2025, in Nanchang, the 2025 National Academic Conference of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (CSBMB) was hosted by CSBMB and co-organized by Nanchang University, Jiangxi Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (JSBMB), Shanghai Wang Yinglai Foundation for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Development, and the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CEMCS, CAS). Centered on “Biochemistry in Transition”, the conference attracted over 1,800 attendees, including distinguished experts, scholars, researchers, and students.
At the opening ceremony, Academician Shao Feng, the President of CSBMB, and Professor Pan Bingxing, the Vice-President of NCU, delivered addresses respectively. Academician Chen Yeguang, the President of NCU, delivered an invited lecture. Academicians Wang Yizheng, Dong Chen, E Weinan, Lin Shengcai, and international experts Lynne E. Maquat, Shigekazu Nagata, Vishva M. Dixit attended the conference and gave academic reports. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Liu Xiaolong, the Secretary-General of CSBMB.
The conference set up parallel sessions on nearly 20 topics, such as gene expression and regulation, function and regulation of RNA, biochemistry of carbohydrates and lipids, structure and functions of proteins, metabolic homeostasis and networks, education and talent cultivation, AI-empowered biochemistry, gene editing and precision medicine, tumour biochemistry, and aging biochemistry. More than 150 experts delivered presentations focusing on diverse fields such as academic research, education and teaching, and academic publishing, which evoked enthusiastic responses of the participants.
The successful hosting of this conference showcased NCU’s scientific prowess and academic influence in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. By establishing an academic exchange platform for top scholars both at home and abroad, the conference has not only injected powerful impetus into further construction, development, and scientific and research innovation of the university’s related disciplines, but also provided a new opportunity for the university to cultivate high-quality talents and serve the strategic needs of the country.
