Lecturer: YAN Jia'an
YAN Jia'an, a probabilist，was elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in October 1999 and as a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics in 2010. Academician YAN graduated from the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Science and Technology of China in August 1964 and subsequently worked at the Academy of Mathematics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. From April 1973 to July 1975, he studied at the University of Strasbourg in France, and then from January 1981 to November 1982, he conducted research at Heidelberg University in Germany as a Humboldt Scholar. He became a research fellow and doctoral supervisor in 1986. Academician YAN Jia'an won the second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1987, the first prize of the Natural Sciences Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1992, the second prize of the National Award for Natural Sciences in 1993, and was nominated for the National Book Award in 1999. In August 2002, he was invited to deliver a 45-minute talk at the 24th International Congress of Mathematicians held in Beijing. He won the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ho Liang Ho Lee Foundation in 2006 and the Hua Luogeng Prize in Mathematics in 2007. Academician YAN has made contributions to several fields. including martingale theory, stochastic analysis, white noise analysis and financial mathematics. To date, he has published more than 90 papers, 11 monographs and textbooks ( including 4 English monographs).
