In the morning of October 23, the first Chinese Tourism Training Center in Indonesia undertaken by our university, and established by Confucius Institute of Universitas Hasanuddin Indonesia, Universitas Udayana of Bali Island, Universitas Hasanuddin held the opening ceremony.
Deputy Consul-general of Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar Chen Wei, Head of Bali Economy Bureau Ir .I Nengah Laba M.Si, Director of International Department of Universitas Udayana Bu Sri Hartamimba, Head of Tourism Schoolof Universitas Udayana Drs .I Made Sendra, M.Si, Chinese and Foreign Heads of Confucius Institute of Universitas Hasanuddin Indonesia attended this opening ceremony, and made speech in later international forum on “Bali Island Tourism Prospect and Challenge”. They confirmed the importance and the necessity of establishing “Chinese Tourism Training Center” of Universitas Udayana, and hoped the training center would provide good Chinese tourism and Chinese culture training service for tourism employees of Bali island, and make the center play the bridge function of connecting Chinese and Indonesia communication and cooperation in tourism, education, culture.
Chinese Tourism Training Center will cooperate with the local tourism departments, and set up different training courses such as “tour guide Chinese training class”, “hotel staff Chinese training“class” “tourism and foreign affairs reception staff Chinese training class” and so on to satisfy Chinese learning demand of travel agency, hotel, tourism management departments with reception of Chinese tourists.
Indonesia conference tourism planning association, Indonesia-Chinese economic society and cultural cooperation association and other overseas Chinese associations and organizations, local travel agencies, hotel representatives, teacher and student representatives of Universitas Udayana and Universitas Hasanuddin totaling into three hundred people attended the opening ceremony and the forum. The opening ceremony arouses wide concern of Chinese and foreign media, China News Service, www.chinanews.com, Indonesia antara news agency (Indonesia national news agency), Indonesia biggest Chinese newspaper International Journal, Harian Inhua, Harian Nusantara, and Bali island local TV station gave detailed report on this ceremony.
Founded in 1962, Universitas Udayana now has 18000 students, listed as one of the most promising 50 universities in nearly 2500 educational institutions all over the country by Indonesia education ministry, and also the biggest and the most famous university in Bali island. The tourism school of this university has over 30-year experience in school running, with obvious program advantages. Recently, our university negotiated with Universitas Udayana on cooperation in cultivating tourism management professional talents of both universities.
Statistics shows, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Indonesia in 2016 is 1.429 million, including 987 thousand traveling to Bali island, ranking the first in the world. In 2017, Indonesia government plans to attract 2 million Chinese tourists to travel in Indonesia. With the increase in Chinese tourists, demand on the local Chinese tour guides surges, setting up Chinese tourism training center, cultivating tourism staff not only knowing Chinese but also understanding Chinese culture will greatly improve service level for reception of Chinese tourists, and promote friendly communications between these two countries.
