April 17th to 28th, Nanchang University hosted the spring camp of Chinese culture of the Confucius Institute in University of Poitiers in France and received 32 French teachers and students from University of Poitiers, Guerin High School and Vanguard International High School for Chinese learning and Chinese cultural experience for 2 weeks.
During the spring camp, the university arranged a series of Chinese cultural experience courses for the spring campers, including practical Chinese, calligraphy, art, painting, martial arts, and Tai Chi, held innovative events such as Chinese traditional fun sports meeting and fan painting contest. It was the first time for these French students to kick shuttlecock, play push-and-pull, skip long rope, and paint a picture the moon-shaped fan with a brush. During the events, the spring campers made language partners with the students in Nanchang University and forged profound friendship. They attended the classes, did setting-up exercises with the students in Nanchang University's affiliated high school and experienced the high school life deeply in China. The spring campers visited Tengwang Pavilion, Bayi Uprising Memorial Hall, Nuo Culture Park and other places and learned how to make porcelain plate painting in the porcelain plate painting art museum in Nanchang; visited Imperial Palace, Great Wall, Summer Palace and other world cultural heritages and watched acrobatic performances in Beijing, experiencing Chinese culture all-dimensionally from multi angles in close distance.
At the graduation ceremony, French spring campers shared their experiences and feelings during the activities. Their representatives, Ghyslain GEOFFROY from Vanguard International High School, and Pauline MOUSSET and Titouan DESSUS from University of Poitiers thanked the teachers and classmates of Nanchang University for their happy stay in China and expressed that they would work harder to learn Chinese back in France. The leading teacher of the spring camp, Guidance Director Ms. Rose-Marie Vanguard International High School, University of Poitiers, said: “Thank you very much for the patience and kindness of the leaders, teachers and volunteers of Nanchang University. Through the spring camp, Chinese and French teachers and students have forged a profound friendship. Look forward to reuniting with Chinese teachers and students in France!"
NCU Vice President Li Baoming awarded the course-completion certificate to the students at the graduation ceremony and encouraged French students to continue their efforts to learn Chinese after returning back to France and pay close attention to China as the bridge and envoy for the friendship between China and France.
