Recently, the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) announced the paper acceptance results for 2024. The academic paper Graph Neural Network Explanations are Fragile by Professor PANG Meng from the School of Mathematics and Computer Science at NCU has been accepted.
The paper is authored by Jiate LI, a master's graduate from the National University of Singapore, with Professor PANG Meng, a special-term professor at Nanchang University, and Professor WANG Binghui from Illinois Institute of Technology serving as co-corresponding authors. YUN Dong from Milwaukee School of Engineering and JIA Jinyuan from Pennsylvania State University are listed as co-authors. Nanchang University is credited as the first affiliation, marking its debut publication at the top international machine learning conference ICML. The paper reveals the vulnerability of current Graph Neural Network (GNN) interpreters when facing adversarial attacks, and pioneers a comprehensive exploration of the robustness of perturbation-based GNN interpreters under graph structure perturbations. This finding not only provides a new perspective for evaluating the security of GNN interpreters but also points out potential research directions for enhancing interpreter robustness.
ICML is one of the highest-level and most influential international academic conferences in the field of machine learning. It is also recommended as a Class A conference by the China Computer Federation (CCF) and organized by the International Machine Learning Society (IMLS). ICML aims to provide a platform for researchers, students, and practitioners from academia and industry in the field of machine learning to exchange ideas, share the latest research findings, explore new research directions, and promote the development of machine learning. Each year, ICML attracts numerous outstanding researchers from around the world who present high-quality papers and speeches. For ICML 2024, a total of 9,473 valid paper submissions were received with an acceptance rate of 27.5%, resulting in 2,609 accepted papers.
