NCU Team Wins National First Prize in Finals of National Undergraduate Chemistry Laboratory Innovation Design Competition

Reported by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (Authors: Hu Yu, Luo Hao): The finals of the 5th National Undergraduate Chemistry Laboratory Innovation Design Competition were successfully held at Lanzhou University from August 21 to 24. NCUs team ultimately won the National First Prize and ranked sixth nationwide in the Improvement Track.

The 5th National Undergraduate Chemistry Laboratory Innovation Design Competition saw participation from 1,364 undergraduate teams from 481 higher education institutions across 34 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, covering seven national competition zones. From June to July 2025, preliminary selection contests were held in each of the seven zones, with 91 teams from various universities being recommended to advance to the national finals. During the Central China Division competition held from July 8 to 10, NCUs team won three First Prizes and one Second Prize at the divisional level, making it the only team from Jiangxi Province to qualify for the national finals.

The National Undergraduate Chemistry Laboratory Innovation Design Competition is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary national contest for undergraduates majoring in chemistry and related disciplines. It is organized by National Center for Chemistry Education Research in Higher Education Institutions and National Demonstration Center for Experimental Education. The competition is listed in the National Ranking List of Competitions for Regular College Students by the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE) and is recognized as a Category A event in chemistry. It has become the largest and most influential chemistry discipline competition for higher education institutions in China.
