Under the guidance of Professor Hong, the cooperative finally bred high quality “Xiangu Fish” through fattening, delaying growth and reducing weight the three technical methods after three years’ practice, and solved the bighead carp’s general technical problems of earthy smell and poor taste. According to the test of Jiangxi Aquatic Animal Resources and Utilization Key Laboratories of Nanchang University, its DHA content is 7-8% higher than ordinary bighead carp’s. The experts group’s sensory assessment basically was that it has no smell and tastes good. In the market, the fish’s sales price is nearly 10 times higher than ordinary bighead carp’s. Even so, the demand for this fish exceeds the supply.
As the chief expert of special aquatic industry system in Jiangxi Province and the post expert of the national agricultural industry technical system, Professor Hong Yijiang has been working hard on Jiangxi’s aquaculture industry development and the precision poverty alleviation of poor peasants in mountainous areas. With the technical service of Professor Hong, the cooperative sold tens of millions of yuan’s “Xiangu Fish” in 2016-2017, which brought job and precision poverty alleviation to the poor peasants in the mountainous areas and helped peasants to get rid of poverty quickly.
