Facing the running water of Runxi Lake, gazing at the students from the Building of Literature and Law, a smiling man with deep eyes in ancient robe holds a book in his left hand and wants to impart classics to the students, expecting the hardworking students to devote themselves to compiling local chronicles and passing down histories. It is the statue of Zhu Xi, a master of neo

Confucianism whose native place was Jiangxi Province.

On the morning of May 9th, the unveiling ceremony of Zhu Xi’s statue was held in front of the Building of Literature and Law in Nanchang University. President Zhou Chuangbing, President Dr. Tang Enjia of Hongkang Confucian Academy (who donates the statue) and Mrs. Tang co-unveiled Zhu Xi’s statue in front of directors and representatives of teachers and students of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office and School of Humanities.

Dr. Tang gave speech to the teachers and students and praised the achievements of reform and development in Nanchang University in recent years. He made comments on Zhu Xi and his ideology from academic perspectives and encouraged students to respect saints, read classics, inherit and develop Chinese traditional culture.
