NCU Engineering Breaks into ESI Global Top 1‰

According to the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicators) statistical data, Nanchang University (NCU)’s Engineering discipline has for the first time broken into the global top 1‰, landing at 0.974‰ — a milestone in the university’s advancement of the “Double First-Class” Construction and intensive development.
The breakthrough shows that the Engineering discipline of the university has reached a world-class level, with its research performance and academic influence widely recognized by the global academic community. Recent years has witnessed a rapid rise of the discipline in the ESI global ranking, from the top 4.15‰ at the end of 2020 to the current top 1‰.
In recent years, with discipline development as the lead, keeping in line with national strategies and regional economic needs, NCU has been continuously optimizing resource allocation, stepping up the recruitment and cultivation of high-level talents, and enhancing its scientific and technological innovation capacity. Against this backdrop, the overall disciplinary strength of the university has been steadily improved. At present, NCU is the only institution in Jiangxi Province with disciplines ranking among the world’s top 1‰ in ESI. Previously, the university’s “Food Science & Engineering” and “Chemistry” have successively made it to this list. The entry of “Engineering” raises the total number to three, building a sound disciplinary structure and demonstrating the university’s strong capability for sustainable development.
