(From the International Education College) On the morning of December 12, the 2025 “Seeking Six Craftsmen, Inheriting Six Arts” — American Youth Winter Camp: A Journey through the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Jiangxi (Ganpo) officially opened. The event was co-hosted by the Architecture & Design College and the International Education College of NCU. Wang Li, Vice President of NCU, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

On behalf of NCU, Wang Li extended a warm welcome to the faculty and students from the United States. He emphasized that the young generations of China and the United States are energetic, friendly, open-minded, and confident. They are not only the hope of both countries but also the future of China-US relations. He noted that this “Youth Envoy” exchange program is of great significance, expressing his hope that participants would experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese crafts and the profundity of Chinese culture, thereby injecting “youthful vitality” into the friendship between the two countries.

Professor Chi Ting, Chair of the Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design, and Textiles at Washington State University (WSU), and student representative Cesar Alonso Lara also spoke at the ceremony. They expressed sincere gratitude to NCU for this valuable opportunity, and hoped that through this event, faculty-student exchanges and academic research cooperation would be further strengthened, so as to consolidate the long-standing traditional friendship between the two universities.

The 16 teachers and students participating in the winter camp are from the Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design, and Textiles at WSU, a cooperative institution of NCU. They will engage in a 13-day study and exchange program in China. During their stay in China, through various forms such as specialized courses, cultural experiences, field visits, and seminars, they will explore Chinese intangible cultural heritage, as well as the historical evolution and cultural connotations behind these traditional skills. The participants will also conduct cultural study tours in Beijing and Shanghai and interact with NCU students, working together to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of Chinese and foreign art and culture.

Relevant personnel of the Architecture & Design College and the International Education College, along with student representatives, attended the opening ceremony.
