(From School of Infrastructure Engineering) From December 5 to 7, the 6th International Engineering Mechanics Contest (Asian Region) was held at Hohai University. Nine students from NCU demonstrated solid professional foundations and excellent problem-solving abilities. In the individual competition, the NCU participants secured 1 Grand Prize, 3 First Prizes, and 4 Second Prizes; in the team competition, two NCU teams demonstrated excellent teamwork and won 1 Grand Prize and 1 First Prize respectively. Based on the aggregate scores of the top three individual performers from each institution, NCU was awarded the Second Prize in the Institutional Category.
The International Engineering Mechanics Contest was jointly initiated by several universities in the Russian Federation in 2005. Since 2018, the Organizing Committee has authorized Hohai University to host the contest in the Asian Region. This year’s competition drew 597 outstanding students from 68 universities, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, and Tongji University. The contest, featuring both individual and team formats, was conducted entirely in English, providing a comprehensive assessment of the students’ mastery of mechanical theory and their ability to integrate complex mathematical knowledge.
